Help with this math problem please!!!?
You are on your way to visit your Grandma, who lives at Adeluville . It’s her birthday, and you made her cakes.
To get to her house, you have to cross 7 bridges, and there is a cake monster under each bridge! Each cake monster, quite rightly, insists that you pay a cake monster toll. To cross, you have to give them half of the cakes you are carrying, but as they are on the Quick Weight Loss program, they each give you back a single cake.
How many cakes did you leave home with if you arrive at Grandma’s with exactly 2 cakes?
thanks so much this means so much thanks again!!!
yes how many were there to begin with.

= x/2 + 1
= 1/2(x/2 + 1) + 1, = x/4 + 1/2 + 2/2, = x/4 + 3/2
= 1/2(x/4 + 3/2) + 1, = x/8 + 3/4 + 4/4, = x/8 + 7/4
= 1/2(x/8 + 7/4) + 1, = x/16 + 7/8 + 8/8, = x/16 + 15/8
= 1/2(x/16 + 15/8) + 1, = x/32 + 15/16 + 16/16, = x/32 + 31/16
= 1/2(x/32 + 31/16) + 1, = x/64 + 31/32 + 32/32, = x/64 + 63/32
= 1/2(x/64 + 63/32) + 1, = x/128 + 63/64 + 64/64, = x/128 + 127/64
No. of cakes from home—x:
x/128 + 127/64 = 2
x + 254 = 256
x = 2
Answer: 2 cakes were brought before crossing the 1st bridge.
how many were there to begin with?
hmm, technically you could have started with just two cakes.
this is because every time, you give a cake monster one cake, and then get one back, always ending up with two cakes.
